Certification & Registration Marks/Logos

NQA registered clients are authorized to use both the NQA Certification and Registration marks. There are regulations governing the use of both marks, however, because some of the NQA registration marks incorporate either the ANAB or the UKAS logo, the regulations on where it may be used are more prescriptive.

The NQA Certification Mark comprises the NQA logo and states the name of the standard to which registration is granted. ISO 9001 Certified Mark Reproduction of the NQA Certification Marks must accurately reflect the original artwork provided, in particular, the proportions of the different elements must be maintained.

NQA registered clients are provided with an NQA Certificate of Registration, stating which standard(s) the company is registered against. The certificate shall not be reproduced except in full and can be used to identify with mark(s) may be used by the organization. Subsidiary companies and site addresses not covered by the company's registration must not make use of NQA marks or imply that they are registered. The marks shall not be used on a product or in such a way as to suggest that the Certification Body and or accreditation body have certified or approved any product, process, or service of a certified organization. This includes laboratory test, calibration or inspection reports.

The certification mark may be used on:

  • Promotional goods
  • Flags
  • Vehicles
  • Primary & Secondary packaging
  • Window Stickers
  • Boundaries
  • Signs Corporate clothing


The NQA Registration Mark comprises the Certification Mark, plus the appropriate accreditation or oversight body mark. ISO 9001 Registered MarkRegulations governing the use of NQA Registration Marks are provided by the appropriate accreditation or oversight body, e.g. United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). All regulations have been incorporated into this guidance note, further information can be obtained from the applicable accreditation body websites, e.g. www.ukas.com or www.anab.org.

The Registration Mark shall not normally be reduced beyond a minimum height of 20mm and a maximum height 30mm if printed on a sheet of A4 paper (any increase above 30mm must be proportionate). The Registration Mark should be printed in a single color, which shall be black or the predominant ink color of the document. In exceptional circumstances, which are usually dictated by space limitation or cost the mark, may be reduced beyond 20mm provided that all elements are reduced proportionately and the mark remains legible.

Stationery. General headed stationery but not test, inspection reports or calibration certificates. The title of the certificated entity must also be shown and the NQA Registration Mark must have no more prominence than the logo of the certificated entity.

Advertising, Corporate Literature and Publicity Material. The advertisement, corporate literature or publicity material must relate in whole or in part to the goods or services described in the scope of registration. For these purposes, the publicity material shall not display the logo on items such as calendars, diaries, or coffee mugs unless the items were manufactured in a facility under an accredited product certification. Secondary Packaging. If larger boxes, etc., used for transportation include the mark(s), a clear statement must be included to the effect that the product contained therein was manufactured in a facility with management systems certified as being in conformity with [specific standard such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 14001].

Signs/Vehicles. The Registration mark is permitted on internal walls, doors and exhibition stands, but not on a site boundary, external wall, flags or vehicles.
